Design of an interdisciplinary evaluation method for multi-scaled sustainability of computer-based projects. A workbased on the Sustainable Computing Evaluation Framework (SCEF)

Abstract: This paper focuses on the evaluation of sustainability in computerbased projects. This type of evaluation has been discussed within the Sustainable Human-Computer Interaction (SHCI) community for a long time and is still considered an unresolved issue. Our paper focuses more particularly on the evaluation framework known as Sustainable Computing Evaluation Framework (SCEF). Here, we describe how such framework can be improved in several ways, and also contribute to the development of the SCEF by a better under… Show more

“…By proposing this model, the authors encouraged the SHCI community to develop more nuanced and concrete approaches for evaluating sustainability, emphasizing context-specific methods over universal approaches. Grimal et al [33] took a similar approach and extended the SCEF framework to consider sustainability not as a goal but as a learning process. The authors proposed adaptations to the SCEF framework to motivate engineers reflect on sustainability issues within computer-based projects.…”
