Design of an Asymmetrical Three-phase Inverter for Load Balancing and Power Factor Correction Based on Power Analysis

Abstract: -This paper presents a novel theoretical method based on power analysis to obtain voltage reference values for an inverter-based compensator. This type of compensator, which is installed in parallel with the load, is usually referred to as the active filter. The proposed method is tailored to design the compensator in such a way that it can simultaneously balance the asymmetric load, as well as correct the power factor of the supply side. For clarity, a static compensator is first considered and a recursive al… Show more

“…For the balancing operation to be carried out automatically by introducing feedback on the voltage of the common point of the star relative to the bus minus the source, it is necessary to put a voltage sensor of this point relative to the body. This is because the system additionally connects the common point to the plus or minus bus and, according to the voltage sensor signals, affects the current regulator, which is shown in Figure 12 [6][7][8].…”

“…To improve the quality of the voltage in the distribution network, it is necessary to balance the voltages, for which balancing devices are used in the transformer [6][7][8], which increases the cost of 6-10/0.4 kV transformers. Note that after balancing the voltage, the transformer operates in overload mode.…”

“…Known methods for predicting electricity consumption by household consumers are based on the presence of a combined source, i.e. the presence of electrical and thermal energy [1], [3], [4]. However, in conditions of inaccessibility (mountainous areas), the supply of gas and heat pipe, both from the point of economy and from the technical feasibility, is ineffective.…”

“…The here presented approach to cover more local consumption from solar energy is to distribute inverter output between the phases intentionally asymmetrically. The management of the individual phases is described in previous research for other purposes like circulating current suppression or, reactive power compensation [1], [3]- [5].…”
