Design of a small-scale and failure-resistant IaaS cloud using OpenStack

Abstract: PurposeMajor public cloud providers, such as AWS, Azure or Google, offer seamless experiences for infrastructure as a service (IaaS), platform as a service (PaaS) and software as a service (SaaS). With the emergence of the public cloud's vast usage, administrators must be able to have a reliable method to provide the seamless experience that a public cloud offers on a smaller scale, such as a private cloud. When a smaller deployment or a private cloud is needed, OpenStack can meet the goals without increasing … Show more

“…This section reports the efficiency of the proposed method by comparing the compression rate and interaction performance when using the edge computer-based compression method in a testbed environment. The experimental setup used a Mini PC (Intel 10th Gen i5, 16 GB RAM) for the edge computer, while the cloud environment consisted of a self-built personal cloud with 6th Gen Intel i3 processors and OpenStack [31]. Four touchscreen walls were used, each equipped with two LiDAR sensors, totaling eight sensors, and four projectors were employed.…”

“…This cloud model includes five essential features, three service models, and four deployment models, as illustrated in Figure 1 [3]. Cloud computing makes use of a number of service models, including infrastructure-as-a-service (IaaS), platform-as-a-service (PaaS), software-as-a-service (SaaS), and many others [4]. The essential advantage of cloud computing is consolidated data; having all the data in one location helps with forensic preparation, leading to faster, more coordinated incident response.…”

“…Recent research has resulted in management frameworks that employ the OpenStack platform for flexibly provisioning private cloud systems [40][41][42][43][44][45]. OpenStack controls different types of resources that are typically represented as nodes to provide cloud services.…”
