Design of a Planar Uwb Dipole Antenna With Band-Notched Characteristic

Abstract: Abstract-A compact planar ultra-wideband (UWB) dipole antenna having band-notched characteristic is presented. The dipole antenna has the shape of a modified annular ring and is fed by a 50-Ω microstrip line. Cutting a slot in each radiating annular ring improves the input impedance bandwidth. With the design, the return loss is lower than −10 dB in 3.1 GHz-10.6 GHz frequency range. In addition, bandnotched filtering properties in the 5.15 GHz are achieved by etching four rectangular slits in the ground plane… Show more

“…However, the antennas have more complicated structures to implement than others. In [17,18], the frequency rejection was designed by using embedded narrow slits into ground planes. Although the antennas have good operation, some via holes may be required when connecting with other microwave circuits.…”

“…UWB is defined as a radio technology which is having a bandwidth greater than 500MHz. UWB can transmit high data rates in existing wireless technologies in short duration pluses because the UWB systems are characterized by the information transmission with large system bandwidth of several GHz [3]. UWB antenna is desired to be with vast bandwidth, reliable signal waveform and proper radiation pattern [4].…”
