Design of a game-based learning environment for basic rhythmic patterns in music

Abstract: Rhythm is the basic learning content in music teaching. A game-based learning environment with basic rhythm is constructed in this paper by using 3D virtual world environment. The virtual island with the theme of “Music Playground” is designed to allow learners to learn basic music theory knowledge such as musical notes, time values, beats, staves, etc. Further understand the concept and classification of rhythm type and the importance of rhythm for music learning through game experience.
