Design for the Interior Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor Drive System Based on the Z-Source Inverter

Abstract: The permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) running above the base speed requires flux-weakening control, which is usually realized by the direct-axis demagnetization current generated by the vector control, thus leading to a decrease in the system efficiency in the flux-weakening region. In addition, the motor power output range is limited by the inverter output voltage and current level. In this paper, a Z-Source drive PMSM control system with adjustable DC-link voltage was proposed to improve the efficien… Show more

“…This scheme provided extended motor speed to the deep FW region without violating the maximum load angle condition. In [72], Shuai Dong et al designed a Z-source inverter for FW control of IPMSM drive with adjustable DC-link voltage to increase speed beyond base speed and enhance the system capacity. This system indicated good dynamic characteristics and achieved high efficiency.…”

“…The analysis showed a high value of the THD coefficient for the supply current. In the case of supplying PMSMs by inverter-equipped systems one usually observes a high content of odd harmonics, that is 5, 7, 11 and 13 [22][23][24][25].…”

“…One of the technical measures allowing reducing the energy intensity is the use of variable-frequency drives based on semiconductors [12], [13] with control systems that increase the energy efficiency of an automatic electric drive [14]- [16]. However, highlighting the obvious advantages of this type of equipment [17], [18], it is possible to miss the issues of the electrical energy quality [19].…”
