Design for Personalisation

Abstract: She is interested in how networks of things can be designed for networks of people, and her research interests include craft theory, design for mental health and wellbeing, and design anthropology. She is a council member of the Design Research Society, and convenes the tentSIG special interest group in tangible, embedded and networked technologies. Her practice-led research resulted in the first user-centred application of the ubiquitous computing platform, Speckled Computing in 2005. She currently leads the … Show more

“…The arising concept for such a scenario is the development of a product template by the designer, where certain design features or parameters are defined as a range. With a given form of user involvement, this then gives each user the ability to individualize the product in predetermined design space (Kuksa and Fisher, 2017). The main question arising from this point, addressed by this research, is how a user-modifiable product template or seed design should be developed within AM context.…”

“…The main question arising from this point, addressed by this research, is how a user-modifiable product template or seed design should be developed within AM context. The lack of methods and tools in this domain has been pointed out by previous research (Campbell et al, 2014;Kuksa and Fisher, 2017). There are few successful applications of personalization with AM, mainly in the medical field, such as teeth aligners or hearing aids.…”
