Design features of bimetallic bridges

Abstract: The Design and construction of metal bridges is the most reasonable from the structural and technological point of view, as well as from the standpoint of the implementation of non-standard engineering and spatial solutions. The weak point most often in this case is the efficiency of construction. To improve economic efficiency, it is recommended to use metal structures, the most loaded elements of the beams in which should be made of high-strength steels, and all other conventional rolled steel. Spans of a co… Show more

“…Despite the above-mentioned opportunities in the use of a wide range of materials and technologies, practice shows that designers in their work use well-established ideas about the work of bridge structures, without seeking to find and apply the optimal parameters of superstructures. This was noted earlier in the works where the spans of girder bridges [3,7] and arch bridges [8] are considered. Many questions arise, in particular, when analyzing the stress-strain state of a metal superstructure with an orthotropic plate (Fig.…”

“…Moreover, both unique structures and quite ordinary ones are created [1,2]. Modern technologies allow us to use an extensive list of materials in bridge construction: aluminum, steels of various strengths-bimetallic [3], carbon fiber and other composites [4,5,6]. The use of new materials, in contrast to standard structures, can significantly increase the efficiency of construction, requires more detailed calculations for strength, stability and, in particular, for dynamic impacts.…”

“…Accordingly, when using these data, errors are possible, which inevitably lead to the need to prematurely resort to restoring the operational qualities of bridge structures, and, as a result, to additional costs of financial resources [9]. The exact value of the length coefficient of the extreme span of a continuous three-span bridge was determined and described in [10,11]. When equating the maximum bending moments in the extreme and middle spans, the following expression is obtained:…”

“…Because the existing industrial equipment for grinding and finishing plungers and for finishing cases is not designed and manufactured for mass production of the small number of plunger pairs of various designs and sizes. In addition, the prices of these devices are quite high and are not suitable for repair companies and workshops that are engaged in the restoration and repair of fuel pumps of different types and designs of auto tractor diesels of different manufacturing companies [1,2].…”
