Design, Development and Experimental Analysis of Single Slope and Double Slope Solar Still with Different Materials

Abstract

Solar stills are simple water desalination units. The rapid growth in the water desalination methods using solar energy develops new designs of solar stills. In this work we develops two models of solar still and tested under fixed input water capacity. Single slope still made from fiber reinforced plastic (FRP) and double slope still made from stainless steel. The performance analysis of still consists of instantaneous efficiency, temperature at various locations, heat losses and distills water output. The obtained results made it possible to comparison between both still and defining the best one which is recommended for future use.
