Abstract:Automotive HDD is required to have exceptionally higher reliability than mobile PC-use HDD. The design concepts and performance verifications of the third generation automotive HDDs with the last set of the LMR (Longitudinal Magnetic Recording) technologies and the fourth generation automotive HDDs with the first set of the PMR (Perpendicular Magnetic Recording) technologies are reported in detail.
