Design and Synthesis of New Homo- And Heterometal Coordination Compounds of Germanium(iv) for Preparation of Low Toxic Drugs With a Wide Therapeutic Action

Abstract: Coordination compounds of essential microelement germanium(IV) with metals (Mg, Na, K, Ca, Cu, etc.) and organic ligands -biocatalysts, antidotes at intoxications and regulators of mineral metabolism in living organism (nicotinic, citric, tartaric, 1-hydroxyethylidendiphosphonic acids, nicotinamide) are synthesized for the first time on the Department of General Chemistry and Polymers of Odessa Mechnikov National University. The favorable activity of the synthesized compounds on cardiovascular and chronic resp… Show more

“…Germanium does not only take part in the process of oxygen transfer and prevents the development of bloody hypoxia in this way, but also promotes induction of gamma-interferon, has a positive influence on cardiovascular and chronic respiratory diseases, senile pneumonia, neuropsychiatric and metabolic disorders, ischemic heart diseases, tumors. [1][2][3][4][5][6][7][8][9] It was established that germanium stimulates production of gamma-interferon. Germanium transports oxygen to the all parts of human body, where it binds to H + ions and lowers their harmful effect on the cell.…”

“…Germanium transports oxygen to the all parts of human body, where it binds to H + ions and lowers their harmful effect on the cell. [2] The novel synthesis strategy that provides combination of biological properties of Ge (IV) (p-), Fe (II), Co(II), Ni (II) (delements) and two types of ligands: chelating polydentate tartaric acid and bidentate heterocyclic 1,10-phenantroline has been developed. It involves selective complexation, recognition and isolation of different anions-a recently new scientific direction that has become in the centre of interest only 30 years ago.…”

“…As modifiers of enzyme activity, we used germanium coordination compounds (H 4 Tart -tartaric acid, phen -1,10-phenanthroline, 2,2′-bipyridine). For their synthesis, the original methods were developed [20][21][22], which involve stepwise interaction of tartrate(malate-)germanate acids and ethanol solutions of complexes of d-metal ions (Cu 2+ , Ni 2+ , Fe 2+ , Zn 2+ ) and aromatic amines (1,10-phenanthroline, 2,2′-bipyridine): (11). All compounds were comprehensively characterized by modern physical and chemical methods: elemental analysis, infrared spectroscopy, thermogravimetric analysis, single crystal XRD.…”

“…α-Lrhamnosidases, there are several approaches, one of which is the use of substances that enhance their catalytic effect. As α-L-rhamnosidase modifiers , coordination compounds of germanium, an essential ultratrace element, with various biologically active ligands have received increasing interest recently [10][11][12]. Due to the peculiarities of electronic configuration, germanium is able to promote tissue oxygenation, enhance blood circulation, strengthen the immune system, promote γ-interferon induction, normalize metabolism, and exhibit antitumor effect [13][14][15][16].…”
