Design and Synthesis of Amphiphilic Catalyst [C16mim]5VW12O40Br and Its Application in Deep Desulfurization with Superior Cyclability at Room Temperature

Abstract: Achieving long-term stable deep desulfurization at room temperature and recovering high value-added sulfone products is a challenge at present. Herein, a series of catalysts [C n mim] 5 VW 12 O 40 Br (C n VW 12 , 1-alkyl-3-methylimidazolium bromide tungstovanadate, n = 4, 8, 16) were presented for the room temperature catalytic oxidation of dibenzothiophene (DBT) and its derivatives. Factors affecting the reaction process, such as the amount of catalyst, oxidant, and temperature, were systematically discussed.… Show more

“…In Figure , for solid POM-IL (line E), the stretching vibrations of −CH 2 – and −CH 3 on the sample cation are observed in the 2800 to 3000 cm –1 scope. The imidazole-based POM-IL used in this work also exhibits several characteristic peaks (874, 962, and 1065 cm –1 ) associated with a Keggin-type phosphomolybdic acid anion, relating to the bonds of Mo–O b –Mo, MoO, and P–O, respectively. The characteristic peaks for both the cation and anion of POM-IL could be viewed for the supported catalysts (lines B–D), implying that the configuration of phosphomolybdate anions remains relatively stable while synthesizing. , For pristine MIL-101 (line A), the absorption peaks around 1623 and 1387 cm –1 correspond to the symmetric stretching vibration ( v ) and the asymmetric stretching vibration ( v as ) of the carboxyl group, respectively.…”

“…The characteristic peak corresponding to DBT ( m / z = 184) keeps decreasing as the reaction proceeds, and it completely disappears after the ODS reaction, inflecting that DBT is successfully converted and removed from the model oil. Meanwhile, no signal peak of the oxidative products dibenzothiophene sulfone (DBTO 2 ) is detected in the oil phase after reacting for 70 min ( m / z = 216), illustrating that they may be retained in the [OMIM]BF 4 phase with strong solubility. To further confirm the above hypothesis, the obtained used catalyst is extracted by carbon tetrachloride (CCl 4 ) through a simple washing.…”

“…As we know, the thioethers are a kind of sulfur-containing impurity in industrial crude oil, which are harmful to the environment and human health. , Therefore, the oxidation of thioethers to intermediates sulfoxides is of significance for their wide application in the synthesis of biological and pharmaceutical compounds, chemicals, etc. Herein, a number of thioethers are selected as substrates to explore the optimal conditions for oxidative desulfurization using compounds 1 – 3 as catalysts.…”
