Design and Simulation of a Single Fed Multi-Band Circularly Polarized Microstrip Antenna With Slots

Abstract: Abstract-Nowadays the mobile personal communication systems and wireless networks are commonly used. Experience has revealed that the antennas suitable for these applications should have small size and operate in assigned different frequency bands. For this purpose, circularly polarized (CP) multiband square microstrip antenna with three N-slots and a pair of truncated corners is proposed, designed and simulated. To reduce the losses and improve the antenna efficiency in addition to the bandwidth, an efficient… Show more

“…The use of annular ring antennas [11][12][13] has also become a very promising applicant for multiband applications because of their simple structure and design flexibility in obtaining miniaturization. For generation of CP waves, many techniques were adopted by researchers which included the perturbation method [14,15], slots [16,17], slits [18], metamaterial [19][20][21], stacking [22,23], etc. Using the above techniques, many designs have been reported by various researchers to obtain triple-band [24,25] and dual-band [26,27] CP antennas.…”

“…If a dual-band dual circular polarization antenna with shared aperture is used, the size and cost of the system could be greatly reduced [3]. In the application of satellite communication [4][5][6], a circular polarization antenna [7,8] receives the incoming wave of arbitrary linear polarization, of which radiated electromagnetic wave could also be received by any linear polarization antenna. Therefore, the relative installation attitudes of the transmitting and receiving antennas are not limited by the torsion angle for the circular polarization antenna.…”

“…Even though the structure proposed above showed an immense enhancement in terms of gain and efficiency, it still lacked compactness in terms of its physical dimensions. In [18], the CP waves were obtained using three N slots on the patch antenna and, later, on circular air hole as EBG structures were drilled on the substrate to enhance its performance and also to achieve compactness. However, it resulted in a complex fabrication process.…”
