Design and Rationale of the Cognitive Intervention to Improve Memory in Heart Failure Patients Study

Abstract: This research will provide new knowledge about the efficacy of BrainHQ to improve memory and increase serum brain-derived neurotrophic factor levels in heart failure. If efficacious, the intervention will provide a new therapeutic approach that is easy to disseminate to treat a serious comorbid condition of heart failure.

“…The movement characteristics are consistent with the traditional Yang Style Taijiquan, which is soft, even, moderate, and stable, according to the principle of simplicity before complexity, ease before difficulty, from shallow to deep, and step by step, the whole set of compact structure is easy to learn and practical. Since its popularization, it has become a compulsory course in Taijiquan teaching, and it is an introduction routine for Taijiquan practitioners [11].…”

“…The CCT interventions were unsupervised and asynchronous. The BrainHQ CCT was designed based on the knowledge of neurogenesis and neuroplasticity principles 15 . Patients with HF randomized to the CCT intervention had significant improvement in memory 11 and working memory 14 compared with patients randomized to the active control group.…”
