Design and Performance Verification of an Optimized Multi-agent System

Abstract: The multi-agent system (MAS) mainly focuses on group control and network control. The existing studies on the MAS have not clearly defined the system performance, especially network saturation, agent load capacity and data transfer delay. To solve the problem, this paper develops a basic MAS communication framework, and proposes the optimized serial line Internet protocol (O-SLIP). The protocol can be deployed in any agent object and any layer, unifying the communication between the objects in the MAS system, … Show more

“…The communication between AGVs is the key to the effective control of the MAS. Before the tests, a wireless communication network [39] was implemented. As shown in Figure 7, the network encompasses three main parts: a Host, a wireless router and a set of AGVs.…”

“…There are two solutions to network failure: (1) Socket exception will be detected, triggering the offline event; (2) A daemon thread is set in agent manger, which periodically requests all AGVs in the list to confirm if the agent entity is still online, and removes the offline entities. More details of MAS communication are available in Zhang's research [39].…”

“…In addition, this process can be called "Setting-Find-Task Execution". At first, the staff sets the task target and work path through the terminal equipment such as the wired or wireless touch panel on the vehicle [54]. In addition, then, the vehicle will then complete the movement between the nodes in units of sub-paths and eventually reach the target node.…”
