Design and performance evaluation of building integrated photovoltaic/thermal (BIPVT) air collector

Abstract: This paper addresses the design and performance evaluation of a novel building integrated photovoltaic/thermal (BIPVT) air collector that is augmented with a fin-type heat sink. The system performance is evaluated through a experimental measurement. Laminated with a fin heat sink, the BIPVT modules are designed for both solar electricity and thermal air collector that offer heat and power consumption of heat pump for space/water heating applications. This makes air stream effectively extract the recovered heat… Show more

“…Other adaptations are implemented with single‐glazed and double‐glazed configurations . Many different design parameters and factors that affect the performance of collectors are the glass‐to‐glass‐type or glass‐to‐tedlar‐type PV configurations in , the climatic conditions , semi‐transparent hybrid PV/T single pass and double pass air collector , air flow rate, heat removal, and fill factor . An attempt to survey the very recent topologies and configurations of the air type of PV/T system is presented in the following section.…”

“…A novel BIPV/T air collector is presented by Tsai where it is augmented with a fin‐type heat sink with a large ratio of depth to spacing width is coated with ALO3 insulating film exhibiting a high thermal conductivity (Figure ). These fins are attached at the rear of troughed BIPV module with the back wall having the same space to the tips of fins.…”
