“…The upper tier contains water, airflow, and solar power monitoring, all of which feed into environment and energy monitoring. More importantly, consistent with prior literature, this dependency demonstrates the importance of monitoring the energy consumption of various building systems and renewable energy generation as a way of offsetting the energy costs as mentioned in previous studies [1,38,44,63].…”

“…For airflow, it is worth noting that the relationship with energy is perhaps due to smart hospitals' heavy dependency on HVAC systems. For solar monitoring, its effect on energy is two-fold based on additional literature; according to Izadi et al (2023) [61], solar PV panels can provide electrical energy for key building systems, while solar exposure, in combination with building orientation, affects hospital buildings' heating and cooling needs. As the experts interviewed are based in lower altitude and lower latitude regions in Eastern Asia, it is clearly observed in the interview process that they were experienced and aware of solar impacts on building systems and assigned more driving importance to this application when relating it to environmental and energy monitoring.…”

“…The consumption of energy and production patterns in a rural and urban areas are influenced because of COVID-19. 34 It results to rise in demand of energy. It is found that there was shortage of power in month of summer and it is ovserved by maximum health care units.…”

“…A promising application could be hybrid systems combining different renewable energy sources [8,9]. Izadi et al [10] proposed a hybrid renewable energy system with hydrogen energy storage to cover the energy demand from the units of a hospital caring for COVID-19 patients. The inclusion of hydrogen for power generation in the energy mix is gradually gaining commercial attention globally [11].…”
