Design and numerical assessment of a rapid-construction corrugated steel-concrete-steel protective structure

Abstract: A protective structure should be sufficiently resilient to protect its occupants from the harmful effects of an impact or explosion. In many instances, protective structures are also required to be assembled quickly, and be cost-effective. Steel-concrete-steel (SCS) sandwich structures combine the benefits of steel; ductility and anti-scabbing, and concrete; energy absorption and rigidity. Despite these favourable characteristics, the performance of profiled-plate steel-concrete-steel structures under blast an… Show more

“…The curvature of the arches, beyond its visual elegance, contributes to structural robustness, allowing these constructions to effectively navigate various environmental challenges. However, it is imperative to acknowledge certain considerations associated with the deployment of arch structures [20]- [22]. Firstly, the higher cost involved in their construction demands a careful evaluation of economic feasibility.…”

“…Some scholars have strengthened reinforced concrete beams by pasting steel plates, 20,21 while some scholars have explored the anti‐knock performance of composite structures by changing the position of steel plates in concrete slabs 22,23 ; the stress and anti‐knock and impact resistance are weaker for a flat steel plate than for a corrugated steel plate. Therefore, the anti‐knock performance of corrugated steel has been gradually explored 19,24–26 . However, the existing research results have mostly been focused on the anti‐knock performance of flat steel plate‐concrete composite structures or single corrugated steel structures.…”

“…Therefore, the anti-knock performance of corrugated steel has been gradually explored. 19,[24][25][26] However, the existing research results have mostly been focused on the anti-knock performance of flat steel plate-concrete composite structures or single corrugated steel structures. There have been few investigations regarding the influence of corrugated steel and concrete composite structures and corrugated steel type changes on the explosion-proof safety performance of structures.…”
