The fire incident is one of the man-made disasters in Malaysia due to the frequency of reported fire cases recently. The majority of all cases that involved domestic buildings had very catastrophic effects such as property losses, permanent disability to the victim, and death. We are all aware of how fast fire can spread when it rages. Therefore, owners have to be alert at all times to any factor that might lead to any small fire and that is not possible to achieve. As humans, we might get distracted by other surrounding activities but not for robots. Thus, a Fire Fighting Robot has been developed and was controlled by Arduino Uno. It is designed in a smaller size in order to ease small location entry, fully equipped with high sensitivity sensors to achieve the required research objectives of searching, detecting, and extinguishing the fire. The combination of ultrasonic and flame sensors creates a perfect guide for the robot to work effectively. This autonomous robot will search and locate the fire and send a notification to the user through Blynk application; before the extinguishing process occurs. Blynk application will also provide a monitoring platform for the user to receive information including live streaming and flame data. We tested the performance of the robot by varying the distance and size of fire source to the robot. The graph trend line showed that the time taken was linearly proportional to the distance and size of fire. We managed to obtain the equation of the dependent variable from simple linear regression. From the R 2 value of 0.9888 and 0.9865, we can say that it has a strong relationship between both variables. To summarize, the experimental result has proved its capabilities as a reliable fire protection system by searching and extinguishing a fire in time.

 Abstract: Cooperative robotics is very different from working on a single robot before. Cooperative robots can perform tasks that were previously impossible with a single robot. This robot research can be applied in computer science, artificial intelligence, and electrical engineering. This research aims to deal with tasks that are difficult or impossible to perform with a single robot. For this purpose, we propose a Se-Re (Search-and-Rescue) algorithm. In addition, the proposed algorithm is designed to allow multiple robots to collaborate in the area of work. Robots use wireless communication to collaborate and are organized in groups, which create environmental maps and share data with each other. The robot uses the shared area map to create a global map. Using this information, the robot does not revisit the previously visited area. The proposed algorithm can be applied both indoors and outdoors. Indoors can be used in general buildings as well as livestock housing, and outdoors can be used for landmine removal, human search, and rescue.

Fire incident is a disaster that can potentially cause the loss of life, property damage and permanent disability to the affected victim. They can also suffer from prolonged psychological and trauma. Fire fighters are primarily tasked to handle fire incidents, but they are often exposed to higher risks when extinguishing fire, especially in hazardous environments such as in nuclear power plant, petroleum refineries and gas tanks. They are also faced with other difficulties, particularly if fire occurs in narrow and restricted places, as it is necessary to explore the ruins of buildings and obstacles to extinguish the fire and save the victim. With high barriers and risks in fire extinguishment operations, technological innovations can be utilized to assist firefighting. Therefore, this paper presents the development of a firefighting robot dubbed QRob that can extinguish fire without the need for fire fighters to be exposed to unnecessary danger. QRob is designed to be compact in size than other conventional fire-fighting robot in order to ease small location entry for deeper reach of extinguishing fire in narrow space. QRob is also equipped with an ultrasonic sensor to avoid it from hitting any obstacle and surrounding objects, while a flame sensor is attached for fire detection. This resulted in QRob demonstrating capabilities of identifying fire locations automatically and ability to extinguish fire remotely at particular distance. QRob is programmed to find the fire location and stop at maximum distance of 40 cm from the fire. A human operator can monitor the robot by using camera which connects to a smartphone or remote devices.
