Design and implementation of a room temperature control system: Microcontroller-based

Abstract: Dedicated control over room temperature is not only a key issue in providing work conditions that ensure employee satisfaction and hence increased work output; it is now a health and safety issue. The design considered the flexibility of using a microcontroller, PIC16F876A along with other peripheral devices such as LM35 temperature sensor, LCD display unit to form allencompassing single system. In this work the microcontroller was programmed using MP LAB IDE. It accepts inputs from a simple four-key keypad pr… Show more

“…These systems are either one time programmable or need analog adjustment which is not accurate and more difficult to use. More recent, real time based temperature control using Arduino [17] was published. The system uses Arduino based on ATMEL 89C51, which is just one of the application of Arduino, hence, not original design work, more expensive, and time consuming as one is needed to first learn the Arduino IDE.…”

“…As illustrated in block diagram there are mainly 3 sensors used namely MAX30100 (a sensor based on the principle of photoplethysmography [4] for determining the heart rate and oxygen level) [9], LM35 (a temperature sensor for detecting the body temperature) and LM393 (a moisture sensor for monitoring the presence of any wetness around the baby) [10]. Arduino Uno microcontroller receives inputs from the sensors.…”
