Design and Implementation of a Broker for Cloud Additive Manufacturing Services

Abstract: With increasing number of cloud additive manufacturing (AM) service providers, cloud AM services are becoming decentralized and it is difficult for consumers to discover cloud AM services according to their personal preferences and tradeoffs. Existing frameworks of cloud manufacturing either do not have brokers between cloud manufacturing service providers and consumers or do not support personalized preference and tradeoff based brokerage. In this paper, we present a cloud-based service broker system for clou… Show more

“…At the same time, the joint adoption of "mobile devices" such as (Guo et al, 2013;Reif and Walch, 2008). As another example, AM is not only able to reduce time and cost for product development and manufacturing, but if combined with cloud technologies can open to totally new business models for manufacturing companies, exploiting the so-called CMfg (Modekurthy et al, 2015).…”

The agent layer contains the supplier of the cloud output and the demand side of the operation, the system operating connection as shown in Figure 8.…”

“…For the cloud manufacturing service modes of large equipment manufacturing enterprise alliances, Yang et al (2014) designed a coalition resource coordination logic framework and a multi-level coordination mechanism. Modekurthy et al (2015) introduced a cloud-based service broker system for cloud additive manufacturing that considers the preferences of consumers and the tradeoffs on service attributes, such as price, material, and accuracy, in the ranking process. Xu et al (2015) proposed a design method for capacity information sharing systems on the basis of dynamic real-time device data to solve the problem of dynamic information and knowledge sharing in cloud manufacturing.…”
