Design and Gas Separation Performance of Imidazolium Poly(ILs) Containing Multivalent Imidazolium Fillers and Crosslinking Agents

Abstract: This work introduces a series of vinyl-imidazolium-based polyelectrolyte composites, which were structurally modified via impregnation with multivalent imidazolium-benzene ionic liquids (ILs) or crosslinked with novel cationic crosslinkers which possess internal imidazolium cations and vinylimidazolium cations at the periphery. A set of eight [C4vim][Tf2N]-based membranes were prepared via UV-initiated free radical polymerization, including four composites containing di-, tri-, tetra-, and hexa-imidazolium ben… Show more

“…How to make environmentally friendly cellulose acetate/graphene oxide nanocomposite adsorbents for usage in extracting Ni 2+ from wastewater using environmental applications was investigated [32]. The flexible membrane ingredients of vinyl-imidazolium-based polyelectrolyte composites were structurally improved by being soaked with multivalent imidazoliumbenzene ionic liquids or crosslinked with novel cationic crosslinkers that have interior imidazolium cations and vinyl-imidazolium cations at the border to aid the discrimination and simplification of CO 2 absorption through the film [33].…”

“…Due to the good interphase compatibility with polymeric membrane, functional polymer-based fillers have received much attention. 33,34 In addition, polyimides containing bulky CF 3 group for gas separation were investigated. 35,36 The bulky CF 3 groups could efficiently inhibit polymer chain packing and reduce local segment mobility.…”
