Design and finite element analysis of modular C-Core stator tubular linear oscillating actuator for miniature compressor

Abstract: Purpose For compactness and ease in assembling, a novel miniature size tubular moving magnet linear oscillating actuator (MT-MMLOA) design for miniature linear compressor application is proposed in this paper. Design/methodology/approach This MT-MMLOA design possesses a modular C-core stator structure having separation at the middle. Axially magnetized tubular permanent magnets are accommodated on the mover. To improve the output parameters of the linear oscillating actuators (LOA), all the design parameters… Show more

“…A technique is proposed for future work based on a split ratio. The proposed technique is applied to the topology shown in Figure 12 (Khalid et al , 2021). In this procedure, R T is kept constant while the mover radius R M is kept variable.…”

“…The mechanical structure of an LOA is composed of two main parts; one is stator and the other is mover. Stator is generally composed of coil and provides controlled magnetic field (Khalid et al , 2021). On the basis of mover configuration, there are three types of LOAs: moving-magnet, moving-coil and moving-iron.…”

“…Mover – moving part of LOA composed of different configuration with regard to active and passive parts. Major configurations of mover used in conventional designs of LOA are moving magnet (MM), moving coil and moving iron (Khalid et al , 2021; Jomde et al , 2018; Bijanzad et al , 2017). MMLOA is superior over others on account of high EM force density, small mover mass and fast response.…”
