Design and Establishment of a Learning Factory at the FMENA Zagreb

Abstract: Accelerated technology developments caused by Industry 4.0 create problems in its implementation. One of the most important factors that hinder the transition of companies is ignorance and, therefore, the fear of new technologies present among employees. Learning factories have proven to be one of the best solutions for introducing employees to the technologies of Industry 4.0. Croatia is significantly behind in implementing the features of Industry 4.0, especially compared to more developed countries. To faci… Show more

“…The BOPSE model underwent comparison with four assessment models previously identified in the literature review of lean-green models [75]. Meanwhile, no other leangreen assessment models were identified in the literature [33][34][35][36][37]. Nevertheless, two papers presented lean-green implementation models, those of Machingura et al [36] and Siegel et al [37].…”

“…The term Industry 4.0. was publicly introduced for the first time in 2011 at the Hannover Fair [1]. The implementation of Industry 4.0 in manufacturing companies is carried out by creating smart factories that contain all the components of Industry 4.0 together with the technologies and services that enable the operation of these components [2]. The National Institute of Standards and Technology of USA defines smart manufacturing as a fully integrated collaborative manufacturing system that reacts in real time to achieve changing demands and conditions in the factory, the supply network, and customer needs [3].…”

“…Today, the only way for companies to remain competitive in an increasingly dynamic environment is to deploy Industry 4.0 digital technology. Many companies at the global level today lag far behind in implementing the elements of Industry 4.0 [2]. However, like all new initiatives, the implementation of Industry 4.0 creates resistance because people are wary of the unfamiliar and unproven and because they do not have enough information [6,7].…”
