Design and development of novel Co‐MOF nanostructures as an excellent catalyst for alcohol oxidation and Henry reaction, with a potential antibacterial activity

Abstract: The novel metal-organic framework Co 2 (bdda) 1.5 (OAc) 1 ·5H 2 O (UoB-3) was synthesized via a simple method at room temperature. UoB-3 was characterized by the different methods, including X-ray diffraction (XRD), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), N 2 -adsorption/desorption and elemental analysis. The catalytic ability of UoB-3 was detected to be excellent for primary and secondary alcohols oxidation reaction with high y… Show more

“…A cobalt-based MOF Co 2 (bdda) 1.5 (OAc) 1 ·5H 2 O (UoB-3) (bdda: 4,4′-[benzene-1,4-diylbis(methylidenenitrilo)] dibenzoic acid) was reported as a heterogeneous solid catalyst for the Henry reaction between benzaldehyde and nitromethane ( Scheme 2 ) affording 83% yield in water at 70 °C after 24 h [ 30 ]. Furthermore, the catalytic performance was also tested between substituted aromatic aldehydes and nitromethane to obtain the respective β-nitroalkanols in 62 to 88% yields.…”

“…A new Co-MOF was reported by reacting cobalt acetate with 4,4 -[benzene-1,4-diylbis (methylylidenenitrilo)] dibenzoic acid (H 2 bdda) under ultrasound irradiation in water medium [41]. The catalytic activity of this solid was tested in the oxidation of primary and secondary alcohols as well as in Henry reaction.…”
