Design and Development of IoT based Intelligent Home Automation System

Today, the technology of the Internet of Things (IoT) experiencing ongoing development can be said to be very rapid. Various office equipment and even city pages have been integrated with the internet. In addition to technological developments also occur in the mirror, smart mirror technology is one of the new things, especially in the field of learning, still in traditional technology where mirrors are only used for mirroring. The use of mirrors in education is not yet desirable, so there is a need for innovation in that field. Some studies have involved microcontrollers such as raspberry pi that have been applied to mirrors, where innovation through mirrors is becoming more and more. So that the innovations carried out on the Smart Mirror using mirrors of homes, offices and pages that have a scheduling automation system, turn on video, music, face recognition and control using Android. Students and lecturers need this technology to increase student involvement. The Smart Mirror in this study gave students and lecturers a variety of intelligent experiences. Students and Lecturers can innovate in teaching and learning activities by making changes to their control (Android). In this research has succeeded in creating a new smart mirror innovation with facial recognition needed for students and lecturers to be used for daily teaching and learning activities, especially in the university area in Bandung.

Password-Like Scanning Pattern for Enhancing Security Level of RFID-based Door Lock

The weakness of using one layer security technique based on Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) for door lock is that the unauthorized person still could unlock the door by using a stolen or cloned RFID card. The objective of this article is to improve the security level of RFID-based door lock by adding one security layer namely RFID card scanning pattern. Research and development method was used in the development and testing process. The proposed system was implemented in the laboratory-scale model with door lock was modeled by using direct current (DC) micro servo. The proposed system equipped with two RFID reader units and a main controller unit. In order to be granted an access or unlock the door, a person should scan the RFID card on the two RFID readers in the correct scanning pattern using a valid RFID card. The scanning pattern is like a password or Personal Identification Number (PIN) commonly used for various applications. The tests results showed that the system was able to recognize the correct pattern and valid RFID card, if the pattern was correct and the card was valid then access was accepted and the door was unlocked for a predetermined time, in the experiment it was 10 seconds, otherwise the access was denied. The experiment also showed that every reader needs at least 0.2 seconds in the range of maximum 3.3 cm to read the RFID reader successfully. The test results suggested that the addition of a password-like scanning pattern able to enhance RFID-based door lock.

Nowadays, and on an international scale, controlling energy consumption in the buildings sector has become a human priority in the face of what it causes colossal damage to the environment. It is in this perspective that this work falls, we will carry out a study on a residential building located in a Moroccan semi-arid climate using a dynamic simulation software TRNSYS 17 in order to determine the energy needs and the thermal behavior of this habitat, thus to deduce the impact of these on the behavior of the occupant and on the energy consumption of the building.
