Design and development of a chemistry subject portal at Panjab University Library, India

Abstract: Purpose -This paper aims to give a brief description of some chemistry portals available worldwide, folowed by a description of the chemistry portal developed for Panjab University Library, Chandigarh (India). Design/methodology/approach -A well-structured chemistry portal was designed for chemistry and its allied departments at Panjab University based on studies of other chemistry portals worldwide. Findings -All the students, research scholars and faculty members of chemistry and allied subjects are deriving… Show more

“…The centroids of all jets at the FCAL face were required to be outside a box of 40 × 40 cm 2 centred on the proton beam [38], in order to ensure good energy containment and to reduce the systematic uncertainties due to the proton remnant.…”

“…Portal is a gateway that is a major starting point for users when they get connected to the internet or the one that users have a tendency to visit as an 'anchor site' that hosts content from multiple web sites (Singh & Mahajan, 2010). In other words, a portal is a framework for a website that brings together information from a variety of sources, and to offer everything under one roof.…”

“…• at least one hadronic jet with transverse momentum p j T > 15 GeV and |η| < 3, obtained using the k T cluster algorithm [36] in its longitudinally invariant inclusive mode [37], was required. The centroid of any jet at the FCAL face was required to be outside a box of 40 × 40 cm 2 centred on the proton beam [38], in order to ensure good energy containment and to reduce the systematic uncertainties due to the proton remnant. Additional jets were required to have p j T > 10 GeV and |η| < 3;…”
