Design and comparisons of adaptive harmonic control for a quarter-car active suspension

Abstract: Car suspensions have the job to keep the tires in contact with the road surface as much as possible, to deliver steering stability with good handling and to guarantee passenger comfort. Most modern vehicles have independent front suspension and many vehicles also have independent rear suspension. Independent suspensions are preferred instead of dependent suspensions for their better ride handling, stability, steering and comfort but they provide less overall strength and a complex design which increases the co… Show more

“…The system parameters are seen to be highly governed by road conditions that are typically varied and unpredictable; thus, the performance of the ABS cannot be seen as favorable all along. Furthermore, the signals of the sensors used in the ABS are constantly subject to noises and uncertainties (Emami and Akbarzadeh, 2003;Nichit xelea and Unguritu, 2022).…”

“…This controller controls the hydraulic modulator by estimating the vehicle velocity to calculate the slip ratio of the wheels in real time. Another ABS equipped with adaptive harmonic control (Nichiţelea and Unguritu, 2022) to provide a harmonic control signal based on the body acceleration that is variable in amplitude and frequency, as well as others utilized it with an intelligent algorithm using fuzzy logic has been implemented to a middle-class city bus (Ivanov et al, 2006). Guo et al (2014) applied an ABS to a quarter model of an electric vehicle through simulation work.…”

“…9,10 Active control forces are generated directly by hydraulic or electromagnetic actuators. 11 Compared with semi-active control, active control has stronger adaptability. 12 Therefore, this study investigates the feasibility and control effectiveness of semi-active and active control strategies based on the TLS suspensions based on a controllable damping force.…”

“…The active adaptive suspension adapts to complex terrains by adjusting its own attitude, which is suitable for large and medium-sized unmanned vehicles; In comparison, the passive suspension structure is more suitable for smaller food delivery robots. Typical passive adaptive suspension structures include rocker-bogie suspension [16] , [17] , [18] , parallelogram suspension [19] , independent suspension [20] , [21] , and articulated rocker suspension [22] , [23] , [24] . In order to adapt to complex outdoor working environment, the existing suspension mechanism is comprehensively analyzed.…”
