Design and Analysis of Meander Microstrip Antenna at Wireless Band

Abstract: Meander line antenna (MLA) is an electrically small antenna which poses several performance related issues such as narrow bandwidth, high VSWR, low gain and high cross polarization levels. This paper describe the design ,simulation and development of meander line microstrip antenna at wireless band, the antenna was modeled using microstrip lines and S parameter for the antenna was obtained. The properties of the antenna such as bandwidth, beamwidth, gain, directivity, return loss and polarization were obtained. Show more

“…Pasakawee and Hu presented an electrically small patch antenna using meander lines and CSRRs on the ground plane causing the reduction of the antenna size. In a different study, Ogherohwo presented a 2.4 GHz meander line antenna and Zainuddin used a meander lines slot on the patch antennas with different numbers in diverse positions and achieved maximum 23% size reduction in his application. Ghadimi used a rotated E‐shaped strip in patch antenna and embedded an interdigital strip filter for the harmonic rejection and obtained maximum conversion efficiency of 74% with 1 Kohm load resistor for a low power rectenna.…”

“…The power of this terahertz antenna is fed through the feed line in the optical range having an impedance of 50.06 Ω so that it is convenient to feed by SMA connector of 50 Ω impedance . The resonant frequency and other characteristics mainly depend upon the horizontal and vertical length of the meander line along with the separation between the twist arms, wire width, and the total physical length of the antenna . Besides that, the resonant frequency is also controlled by the shapes and dimensions of the SRR, which are the functions of capacitance and inductance .…”
