Design and analysis of angular stable antipodal F‐type frequency selective surface with multi‐band characteristics

Abstract: This article presents frequency selective surface (FSS) with multi-band characteristics that features tri band band-stop and dual-band passband filter. The proposed FSS unit cell comprises the F-type resonance elements disposed of antipodal (diametrically opposed to) one to another on both layer and a square loop surrounding all resonators on the top layer of the dielectric substrate. The structure is specifically designed to filter out some extensively used broadband communication signals, such as, WiMAX and … Show more

“…Among the EM materials, factors such as the volume, weight, or manufacture complexity shift the researchers interests to twodimensional surface structures in the recent years. 5 The 2D EM materials, such as metasurfaces and frequency selective surfaces (FSSs) 6,7 that can be regarded as an infinite thin layer in the longitudinal direction, are commonly analyzed using boundary condition methods, among which the generalized sheet transition conditions (GSTCs) 8,9 based on surface discontinuity and polarizability tensor is a highly accurate one with great potentials.…”

“…The responses of their surface transmission and reflection on incident electromagnetic waves depend on the geometry and material properties of the unit cell as well as the periodicity [22]. Especially FSSs with the band-stop filter characteristics have the property of preventing the undesired interferences and transmitting the selected signals at a particular frequency simultaneously [23,24]. FSS designs have widespread application area including enhancing the efficiency of the smart houses, which are getting popular since people demand amenity and comfort in the last few decades [21].…”

“…5 Periodic patterns can be composed of metal patches or metal substrate with holes, and they can shield EM energy through the intrinsic resonating determined by the size of periodic patterns. 4,5 The individual units with a certain arrangement in periodic patterns will form a new structural unit, which determines the electromagnetic shielding behavior. In order to better analyze periodic structure, the structure of FSS can be decoupled by an equivalent circuit where L and C are dependent on the sample geometries.…”
