Show more
This research is based on the current need to construct efficient buildings, understanding that this starts from the first design and goes through the entire building operation. Considering the new project methodologies and performance simulations, this study aims to analyze the scenario and BIM designers who use or intend to use integrated tools to design energy-efficient buildings. For this purpose, three increasingly complex models were developed in BIM software and transferred to a performance analysis application through a plugin. The entire process was documented and compared to a control process, which is usual for thermal analysis experts and uses only simulation software. Thus, it was possible to evaluate the thermal analysis method accuracy combined with the BIM methodology. The research results enabled designers to evaluate whether the advantages of the integrated method with BIM outweigh the disparity found with the traditional method. Additionally, this study may contribute to improving these processes through academic research or the efforts of software developers. This study is relevant due to its applicability in the daily life of the designer who is not an expert in performance analysis and requires the assistance of other professionals to develop a recognized low-impact project. It is also important to promote such tools among those who do not incorporate them into the design process due to operational difficulties, time constraints, and other factors. The research stands out by investigating performance simulation using computational tools, without the need for customization or programming, as these aspects can be intimidating for the average designer. The value lies in validating the applicability of the simulation method combined with BIM.
