RESUMOO objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar o desempenho de cultivares de arroz em diferentes tipos de solo na Amazônia ocidental. A pesquisa foi realizada no munícipio de Humaitá, AM, através do experimento em condições de casa de vegetação, no delineamento experimental inteiramente casualizado (DIC), com quatro repetições disposto em fatorial 6x3 com seis tipos de solos (solo vermelho de Porto Velho; solos preto e vermelho, solo preto, solo preto e amarelo do município de Humaitá, solo preto do município de Canutama) e com três cultivares de arroz, sendo, SCS 117 CL, SCS 121 CL e SCS 114 ANDOSAN e com quatro repetições. Foram avaliadas as variáveis e utilizou-se o teste Tukey, a 5% de probabilidade, para testar a interação entre as cultivares e os tipos de solo. Pelos resultados obtidos, podese concluir que a cultivar SCS 117 CL obteve a maior média para massa verde da parte aérea. A cultivar SCS 121 CL obteve melhores resultados para desempenho de massa total de grãos e massa de mil grãos, mostrando ser a mais produtiva para o solo preto de Humaitá. A cultivar SCS 114 ANDOSAN obteve o melhor resultado para diâmetro do colmo da planta e diâmetro do colmo do perfilho, largura da espiga da planta, em todos os tipos de solos. Para largura da espiga da planta as medias foram estatisticamente iguais a cultivar SCS 121 CL.
