O objetivo deste estudo foi produzir compósitos laminados com matriz de gesso, faces de manta de juta com a incorporação dos teores de 0%, 2,5%, 5%, 7,5% e 10% de polpa celulósica ao miolo. A incorporação da polpa celulósica e da manta de juta visa substituir parcialmente o gesso por fibras vegetais que são de caráter não tóxico. Os compóstivos foram avaliados por meio de testes físicos e mecânicos. Diante os resultados, a umidade do compósito aumentou com o acréscimo do teor de polpa celulósica adicionado. Para a absorção de àgua (AA) os compósitos com adição de 5% de polpa apresentaram o menor teor. Enquanto o teste de inchamento de espessura (IE), o tratamento de 7,5% apresentou menor inchamento. Em relação ao MOR, todos os tratamentos obtiveram o mínimo exigido por norma. E os demais tratamentos como flexão e compressão não houve diferença estatística. Isso implica em uma oportunidade promissora para a fabricação e comercialização de placas com gesso com polpa celulósica e manta de juta para diversos produtos, como forros, revestimentos, blocos etc., além de reduzir a utilização de gesso, potencializa o uso dos resíduos gerados pela agroindústria brasileira.
