Description of Quality of Life and Its Predictors in Patients with Aneurysmal Subarachnoid Hemorrhage

Abstract: Background: According to previous studies, the quality of life is usually substantially altered in patients who have suffered a subarachnoid hemorrhage of an aneurysmal origin. Some studies have attempted to find out which factors predict the deterioration in quality of life. Our study will try to describe the quality of life of these patients and discover which variables may predict it in each of its dimensions. Methods: The participants were 70 patients with aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage between 15 and … Show more

“…It has been reported that generally, after the completion of the 8 week program, various medical physical syndomes, and psychological syndromes, for example anxiety, depression, and hostility that were shown at the beginning of the program were markedly decreased 10) . After the application in the medical field, the MBSR program has been shown to improve psychological disorders such as anxiety and depression 3,4,6,14,17) , alleviate chronic pains 13) , and when applied to psoriasis, fibromyalgia, eating disorder, and other diverse diseases, it was shown to ameliorate the symptoms or alleviate psycological pain caused by and associated with their symptoms 3,4,6,14,15,22,28,30) .…”

“…The importance of HRQoL assessments in patients following SAH has increasingly been recognized through a growing number of studies investigating different dimensions of HRQoL in SAH survivors [12,13,14,15,16,17,18,19]. Studies comparing HRQoL outcome measures in patients who underwent endovascular coiling versus those who underwent neurosurgical clipping were performed either for unruptured intracranial aneurysms [20,21] or only included small numbers of patients with SAH [16,17,22].…”

“…The aggregate worldwide incidence is about 10.5 cases per 100,000 person-years and accounts for 5% of deaths from stroke [2,3]. Moreover, the quality of life in aSAH survivors has been found to deteriorate substantially within months after having the hemorrhage, which seriously interferes with their physical and mental health [4]. The prevalence of aneurysms in the Indian population, based on autopsy studies, has a frequency ranging from 0.75 to 10.3%, with a mean incidence from various parts of India of 5.5% [5,6].…”
