The genus Mastophora Holmberg, 1876 is represented by 50 species that are distributed mainly in America and the Antilles. Males are much smaller than females and are not described in more than half of the known species of the genus. The high specificity of their diet (moths) and the prey-hunting strategy used by females are also characteristic of the genus. The objectives of this contribution are: to describe for the first time the male of Mastophora extraordinaria Holmberg, 1876, the type species of the genus, to provide images of live specimens and genitalia of both sexes and to give data of natural history, development, feeding and its potential distribution. We performed observations in the field and laboratory. We maintained females with their egg sacs until the adulthood of the males occurred. Males of M. extraordinaria are distinguished by having a short and curved embolus and median apophysis with a broad base and hook-shaped apex. The species was founded in tree foliages in natural forests or urban gardens. Literature data, new distribution records and the potential model show that the species has a pampasic distribution.

Dubiaranea magatama Cajade, Hagopián & Rodrigues n. sp. is described from Uruguay, and southern Brazil based on males and females from several types of native forests, and a potential distribution for this species is modeled. The predicted model for this species indicates a Pampean province and southern Atlantic Forest biome distribution. Three variables contributed significantly to the model with positive influence: the spatial component, the proximity to large rivers, and the tree cover. Also, we provide new records of Dubiaranea difficilis (Mello-Leitão 1944) for Uruguay and a model of its potential distribution was performed. It showed that tree cover, the proximity to large rivers, the spatial component and precipitation/evapotranspiration constraints were recovered for the model with positive influence, expanding the potential distribution area previously proposed.

Este trabajo brinda evidencia sobre las desigualdades de género en la práctica académica de la Historia Económica en Uruguay. Se basa en datos sobre carrera laboral, producción y percepciones de los miembros de la Asociación de Historia Económica del Uruguay (AUDHE) y su contrapunto con los hallazgos para la economía. Se encuentra que, con la profesionalización y expansión de la Historia Económica, las mujeres han tendido a rezagarse en la participación institucional, la culminación de estudios superiores y el inicio de la carrera académica. En el desempeño profesional, se identifica un “techo de cristal”, segregación de las agendas de investigación por género y estancamiento en la proporción de autoras en la producción total. En términos de percepciones, si bien la comunidad académica reconoce las disparidades, las mujeres las atribuyen, mayoritariamente, al sistema de organización del trabajo, mientras los varones colocan el acento en la actitud de las mujeres.
