Descending necrotizing mediastinitis below the tracheal carina

Abstract: In this low socioeconomic status patient population, descending necrotizing mediastinitis below the carina causes high morbidity and mortality, the latter particularly associated with age, complications, diabetes mellitus and other comorbidities.
