“…Also very recently, Llambrich et al [6] investigated the dermoscopic patterns of 26 cases of cutaneous leishmaniasis. Patterns associated with this skin infection were generalized erythema (100%), yellow tears (53%), hyperkeratosis (50%), central erosion/ulceration (46%), erosion/ulceration associated with hyperkeratosis (38%) and white starburst-like pattern (38%).…”

“…Dermoscopically, the most common findings are characterized by diffuse erythema and vascular structures such as comma-like, linear or atypical, and arborizing vessels [60] . Early-stage lesions may have a yellow oval or tear-drop-shaped aspect known as yellow tears made from follicles due to the compression of follicular openings.…”

“…The main dermoscopic features of the condition include generalized erythema in 100% of cases, hyperkeratosis with or without central ulceration, and two recently identified patterns ("yellow tears" in 53% of cases and a "white starburst-like pattern" in 38% of cases). 3 There is no international gold standard for the optimal management of Old World cutaneous leishmaniasis, particularly because different Leishmania species differ in virulence. However, clinical guidelines are available for managing different clinical scenarios.…”
