Abstract:A one‐dimensional heterogeneous fixed‐bed methanol synthesis reactor model was developed for the optimization of carbon conversion and rate of methanol production. The developed model was validated both at pellet and reactor scales. The reactor inlet syngas composition and cooling water temperature, i.e., the design variables, providing the highest carbon conversion and rate of methanol production were determined by a constrained derivative‐free optimization algorithm. The results revealed that after optimizat… Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
