Mit 2 Abbildungen.Die Versuehe, Bakteriophagen zu konzentrieren oder rein darzustellen, gingen bisher im wesentliehen yon dreierlei Arbeitsmethoden aus: der Filtration, der Adsorption mit nachfolgender Elution und der Zentrifugierung. AuI diese Weise gelang es, Phagenkonzentrate zu erhalten, deren lytisehe Eigensehaften sehr viel st~trker waren als dies bei der iibliehen Kultivierung der Bakteriophagen sonst je der Fall ist. Wenn man hier absieht yon den Versuehen A. P. Kruegers, der dutch Aktivierung eines yon ibm entdeekten ,,intraeellular phage precursor" die Wirksamkeit emer Phagenl6sung um 100% s~eigert, warenes also stets physikalisehe oder ehemisehe Arbeitsweisen, die zur L6sung dieser Fragen beigezogen wurden.Die Sehwierigkeiten, welehe die Anwendung dieser ~ethoden mit sich bringt, liegen in den verhiltnism/~Big langwierigen Prozeduren, die sic erfordern. Deshalb sollte der Versueh unternommen werden, dutch die Anwendung einer der teehnisehen Chemic entnommenen Methode auf einfaehere Weise zum gleiehen. Ziel, der Konzentration yon Phagenelementen aus einer L6su~g, zu gelangen, n~mlieh mit der Methode der Sehaumadsorption.Die h~ufigs~e teehnisehe Anwendung dieser Methode besteht darin, ein pulverf6rmiges Gemiseh zweier Subsganzen (z. 13. Erz und Quarzsand) zu trennen, lKan gibg das Pulver in Wasser, auf das eirle diiIme 01sehiehg ausgebreitet wird. Ein durehgeleiteter Luftstrom bewirkt s~arke Sehaumbildung, wobei der hydrolohobe Anteil des Pulvers (das Erz) at1 den Sehaum adsorbierg wird, w~hrend der hydrophile Quarz im Wasser bleibt. Dutch Abseh6pfen des Sehaums erla/~lt man darm die beiden Phasen ge~rermt. Naeh demselben Prinzip ist es abet aueh m6glieh, kolloidM gel6ste Teilehen aus einer L6sung an Seh/iume zu adsorbieren, sofern es sieh dabei um oberflgehenaktive Substanzen handelt. F.
