Der modifizierte Heidelberg-Retina-Tomograph HRT Erste Ergebnisse einer In-vivo-Darstellung von kornealen Strukturen

Abstract: First investigations show a regular illumination of all corneal structures as the epithelium, endothelium, and keratocytes. The hydraulic z-scan allowed a precise shift of the focus through the cornea to take series of images for the evaluation of the keratocyte profile and 3D reconstruction of all corneal structures.

“…22 This microscope uses a 670-nm laser source, a class 1 laser system, and thus, by definition, does not pose any ocular safety hazard. The eye to be examined was first anesthetized by instilling proparacain 0.5% eye drops (Ursapharm, Saarbrü cken, Germany).…”

“…Contactless operation together with the use of an NIR LED made the examination procedure comfortable for the subjects. All the images had a large FOV of 1.26 X 1.26 mm 2 . We obtained images of epithelium, Bowman's layer, sub-basal nerve plexus (SNP), anterior, middle and posterior stroma, endothelial cells with visible nuclei.…”

“…Currently, confocal microscope, given its ability of en face viewing with a micrometer-level resolution 2,3 , is the only clinical tool capable to see these features through the entire corneal depth. Unfortunately, confocal microscopy is not exempt from drawbacks, being the relatively small field-of-view and typical requirement of contact with an eye.…”

“…This module attaches to a commercial Heidelberg Engineering scanning laser ophthalmoscope that is typically used for retinal imaging [17]. The attached module shifts the focus of the laser beam from the retinal surface to the cornea and the focal position is operator controlled by the motion of an secondary movable lens.…”
