Several studies, moreover, have found that the likelihood of committing a violent act is increased when alcohol and/or drug misuse is co-morbid with a severe mental illness (Arseneault et al, 2000;Brennan et al, 2000;Coˆte´& Hodgins, 1992;Hodgins, 1999;Malmquist, 1995).
