Deposition of Sorption and Photocatalytic Material on Nanofibers and Fabric by Controlled Sublimation

Abstract: This paper presents a new method of deposition of photocatalytic sorbent on nanofibers. This deposition uses controlled sublimation of water molecules from the vacuum-gel that is patent-protected. Silica gel nanostructures are precipitated by heterogeneous nucleation on the surface of nanofibres from an aqueous suspension of silicate nanoparticles and semiconductor carbon nitride (C3N4) or graphene nanosheets. After rapid solidification of gel (at least 104K/s), the nanofibers coated with the silica gel disper… Show more

“…Due to the fact, that the antimicrobial Ag and Zn are deposited on, respective within the macroscopic and porous silicate structure, it is easy to separate the material back from the dispersion. Moreover, according to our experience, it is feasible to deposit this material onto nanofibers or fabric [65], where it could act as an antimicrobial layer in various types of filters.…”

“…As a possible explanation for the observed synergy, the formation of the Schottky semiconductor-metal transition can be considered, which represents a qualitatively new factor in the coexistence of both components. In our previous work [11], the possibility of deposition of this type of material on nanofibers and fabrics for antimicrobial applications in various types of filters was also experimentally verified.…”
