Deposition of Polymer Sensor Films on SAW Surface by Electrospraying Technology

Abstract: One of the most important problems with regard to the Surface Acoustic Wave (SAW) gas sensors technology is the deposition of chemosensitive films exhibiting desirable chemical and physical properties. The electrospraying technology seems to be a very promising method of the film deposition in this case. It allows the chemosensitive layers to be obtained out of almost any chemicals and their mixtures in a controllable way. The process gives the possibility to generate specific films with properties unattainabl… Show more

“…Furthermore, selecting the proper coating technique is another essential factor for optimizing performance characteristics. JASEK et al [ 58 ] characterized the humidity sensing properties of Nafion ® film deposited with two different techniques, i.e., thermal evaporation and electrospraying. The film deposited by the vacuum evaporation method agglomerated into bubbles, while the electrospray-deposited film was uniform.…”

“…It is worth mentioning that filter absorbers do not neutralize toxic substances, but only filter and adsorb them. Therefore, technical conditions have been developed for each type of filter absorber; they contain operational and protective requirements, including permissible air flow resistance, sorption capacity, and protection time for selected substances, taking into account their type (acidic, alkaline, or organic/inorganic) [ 9 , 10 , 11 ].…”

“…This drawback has been addressed through multiplex ES (MES) techniques, demonstrating the simultaneous operation of hundreds of ES sources and a remarkable packing density exceeding 10 4 sources/cm 2 [33]. Thin films of MOS and conductive polymers have been prepared by ES of precursor solutions or nanoparticle suspensions for gas sensing applications [34][35][36][37][38][39]. Only recently ES has received attention for the preparation of gas sensors based on graphene [40,41].…”
