Depositing silver nanoparticles on/in a glass slide by the sonochemical method

Abstract: A glass substrate was coated with silver by ultrasound irradiation. The structure and morphology of the nanoparticles in the deposited film were characterized using methods such as XRD, TEM, HR TEM, HRSEM, AFM, TOF-SIMS and optical spectroscopy. It was demonstrated that nucleation and the ensuing growth of the nanoparticles occurs in solution and is influenced by the concentration of the precursor, temperature and time of sonication. TOF-SIMS measurements revealed that silver nanoparticles passed through the g… Show more

“…Using this approach, very small seed particles are deposited on the surface, which can continue to grow as previously observed in the deposition of silver NPs. [ 26 ] Indeed, the highest percentage of both components (0.3 wt%) and the most uniform distribution of NPs on the CI surface were achieved when the ZnO NPs were coated using the in situ sonication procedure, and the previously synthesized Table 1 (magnifi cation: 10 000×).…”

“…Modification of the spacers was performed by sonochemical deposition as described by Perkas et al [21] and Ronen et al [14]. Briefly, cleaned spacers were immersed in 0.04 M silver nitrate solution in 10% ethylene glycol-90% deionized water (DI) water [v/v].…”

“…8, No. 1;2016 atoms via aqueous sonolysis led to different noble metal nanoparticles in aqueous or alcohol solutions (Guo et al, 2008;Okitsu et al, 2005;Perkas et al, 2008). Sonochemical irradiation of silver salts in aqueous solutions alone leads to the formation of instable particles.…”
