Abstract:The hydrolytic depolymerization of poly(ethylene terephthalate) (PET) fibers with solid sodium hydroxide was investigated. The study presents an innovative recycling approach for the recovery of virgin‐quality terephthalic acid (TA) from textile blends consisting of PET and elastane fibers.
