Abstract: Contemporary research on Roma from diverse disciplines has grown strongly during the last years. This is the first bibliometric study on the field of Romani studies considering the period 1997-2018 with the aims of mapping scholar's disciplines and analyzing localiza-tion and their thematic contributions. The world evolution of Roma research topics and their citation impacts has been analyzed using a Network Analysis approach. The Scopus database was used to retrieve bibliographic records on Gypsy and Roma res… Show more

“…VOSviewer generates an inevitable loss of information due to the two-dimensional representation of the terms in a Euclidean space. Despite these limitations, depending on researcher errors and bibliometric mapping constrains, term map analysis represents a useful tool to support experts to improve their knowledge on a particular domain [48]. “…However, the VOS mapping technique and the weighted and parameterized variant of modularity-based clustering can both be derived from the same underlying principle [ 64 ]. This justified our choice of a unified approach to mapping and clustering bibliometric networks to identify sub-fields or specific sub-topics [ 135 ]. Despite these limitations, depending on researcher errors and bibliometric mapping constraints, term-map analysis represents a valuable tool to support experts to improve their knowledge on a specific domain [ 135 ].…”

“…In addition, they point out that there are numerous studies that use doctoral theses as a basic unit of analysis and indicator of scientific production. Ioannoni et al (2020) analyzed the scientific tendency of the publications related to the Roma in the Scopus data base during the 1997-2018 period. Their bibliometric study make a mapping in the scientific disciplinary, researchers, thematic contribution and methodology, it also follows the impact of the citations.…”
