Dependence of the mechanical properties of nanohoneycomb structures on porosity

Abstract: Mechanical properties of nanohoneycomb structures are measured for varying porosity (or pore diameter) of the nanohoneycomb structure. The indentation modulus and hardness in the pore direction (or thickness direction) are obtained from indentation tests using a nano-indenter. The bending modulus of the nanohoneycomb structures in the vertical direction relative to the pore (generally along the beam length) is determined from bending tests in AFM. To determine the bending modulus of the nanohoneycomb structure… Show more

“…The AAO membrane has remarkable strength properties [18], and AAO membrane strength can be improved by controlling pore-cell dimension and crystalline structure through calcination [17,19]. In addition, support by a stainless steel frit in the membrane module reduced stress on the membrane and increased membrane tolerance to high pressure differentials between the sample and the mass spectrometer vacuum.…”

“…Since NAAs intrinsically have a hydrophilic character, heptadecafluoro-1,1,2,2-tetrahydrodecyl trichlorosilane (HDFS) is utilized as a self-assembled monolayer to create hydrophobicity. Consequently, we demonstrate a transparent superhydrophobic surface on the glass wafer.NAA is a tunable nanostructure by simply controlling its anodizing and widening time [12,18]. Furthermore, it can be easily fabricated on any large substrate by http://dx.…”
