Dependence of Magnetooptic Properties of MnBi Films on Component Ratio

Abstract: MnBi films with different ratios of the Mn and Bi components have been obtained by vacuum deposition with varied substrate masking. The coercive force and the Faraday rotation angle of different regions have been measured. Microscopic observations of the annealing process made it possible to reveal its specific features and to determine the dependence of the ultimate magnetooptical properties of the films on their thickness and on the relative excess or deficiency of manganese.
