Abstract:The dependence of the creep rupture strength on the microstructure of a liquid metal cooling directionally solidified nickel based superalloy was investigated over a wide range from 980 to 1100uC. The creep rupture lives were prolonged especially at 980uC/310 MPa as a result of the elimination of the blocky primary c9. The fractured specimens were sectioned and examined to reveal the deformation microstructures and active dislocation deformation mechanisms.

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
