Dependable Real-Time Data Mining

Abstract: In this paper we discuss the need for real-time data mining for many applications in government and industry and describe resulting research issues. We also discuss dependability issues including incorporating security, integrity, timeliness and fault tolerance into data mining. Several different data mining outcomes are described with regard to their implementation in a real-time environment. These outcomes include clustering, association-rule mining, link analysis and anomaly detection. The paper describes h… Show more

“…Thus, it is important for the training model to be retrained and to be scaled to the dimensions of the increasing data. Thus, scalability of the training model to higher dimensions, cost or efficiency of the model scaling and the robustness of the models' inferences and predictive accuracy in the higher dimensions are important considerations (Thuraisingham et al 2005). The scalability of the training model, the robustness of the models' inferences and predictive accuracy were considered earlier for all three models, so here we focus on the efficiency of the model scaling.…”

“…Solutions for real-time data mining also can be applied to data fusion. For example, one approach is to focus on data streams over certain intervals [5] and data-fusion algorithms most appropriate to data combinations available during that interval.…”
